The Book of Commandments vs. The Doctrine and Covenants – Part 1

adminStrong Delusion

The Book of Commandments was the first attempt to gather and publish the revelations of Joseph Smith. Work on the volume proceeded very slowly but with high hopes through 1832 until the printing press was destroyed in July of 1833. The surviving galley sheets were gathered and bound as books and distributed as widely as possible to the membership. For the purposes of this study, we are most interested in the original version of the revelations Joseph recorded and published in the Book of Commandments, especially the earliest revelations which he received through the seer stone during the translation of the Book of Mormon. Because in great measure, they represent a pristine view into the … Read More

Overcoming the Strong Delusion

AndersStrong Delusion

Ezekiel wrote prophetically about the conditions we would face in the Strong Delusion when walls of “untempered mortar” would be built around us as the theology of theocracy which controls our lives. Being a true and holy prophet, Ezekiel also saw the end of the wall as it would be exposed by the truth and then be destroyed. Ezekiel wrote: 10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one (Smith) built up a wall, and, lo, others (the brethren) daubed it with untempered mortar: 11 Say unto them which daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great … Read More

Dead Works in the Strong Delusion
Part 2

AndersStrong Delusion

Continuing with the theme of dead works in part 2, we come to the baptism of little children as a natural follow-on to the topic of baptism for the dead. The dead don’t care about whether we baptize them or not! They are not waiting in some proxy-enabled prison release system for our computers to catalogue them as baptized-enabled clearinghouse prize winners so they can move on. But little children are here living among us and this seeming innocent act of baptizing them as children has ramifications for the child far into their future. How better to entrap or ensnare someone into a system of belief than to baptize them at age 8, and then … Read More

Dead Works in The Strong Delusion
Part 1

AndersEternal Lives, Strong Delusion

As the Strong Delusion gained steam and the momentum of Smith’s lust for power carried him further into his delusion as prophet, and in order to expand his egocentric enterprise, he generated one dead work after another by his policies, his craft, and his theology. All of which led Mormons away from scripture, and into the clutches of this man whose creative genius for ostentatious ordinance is unrivaled; even if he had to step over the Apostle Paul to do so. Nauvoo saw the pinnacle of Smith’s “prophetic” pronouncements, and in the aftermath of his deceit and deception, the church he founded was left floundering in a sea of unscriptural edicts and injunctions. The believers … Read More
